General Information
Congress Venue
City Conference Centre (CCC), Folkets Hus is located at Barnhusgatan 12–14, in central Stockholm only 5 minutes’ walk from
the Central Station and the City Terminal (the terminal for the airport buses). Please see map
here.
Bus: Airport coaches leave Arlanda airport (Stockholm’s international
airport) every 5–10 minutes for the City Terminal in central Stockholm. The bus ride takes approximately 35 minutes and
costs SEK 90. (Jan 2005).
Express train: From Arlanda Airport there is a direct train connection
to the Stockholm Central Station. The journey takes about 20 minutes and costs SEK 190 (Jan 2005). The train leaves
every 15 minutes from Arlanda Airport, and is specially designed with extra space for luggage.
Taxi: Taxis are available outside the arrival hall at Arlanda airport.
Prices may vary considerably, so you are advised to ask for the price before entering the taxi. Many taxi companies offer a fixed
price of SEK 390 (Jan 2005) from Arlanda airport to Stockholm city centre and the driver is obliged to give you a printed receipt
on request.
Car rental: For those looking to rent a car on arrival in Stockholm, Stockholm Arlanda Airport has representation from a number of
car rental companies. These include Avis, Sixt, Europcar and Hertz. Badges Each participant will receive a name badge upon registration.
For security reasons all participants are requested to wear their badge during all the Congress activities and social events. (The cost
for replacing a lost badge is SEK 250.)
Bank Services
Banks are usually open from Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 15.00. Some banks in central Stockholm are open from 09.00–17.00.
Cash dispensers are located throughout the city centre.
Climate and Dress
Dress code for the meeting is smart business/business casual. Please keep in mind that there are often variations in temperature
within the venue and you are advised to bring along a sweater. In general, Sweden has a cool temperate climate, with rain in all
seasons. The typical temperature in Stockholm during september is: Daytime: 9 degrees Celsius / 48 degrees Fahrenheit. Night time:
4 degrees Celsius / 39 degrees Fahrenheit.
Continuing Education Credits
Application is in process for continuing education credits for attendance at this IPA International Congress. Please bookmark the
Congress website for the most recent information.
Currency
The official currency for all fees relating to the Congress is the Swedish Crown (SEK). The exchange rates are reported in most
national and international newspapers and are displayed in most banks. Traveller’s checks can be cashed at most banks. Euros are

Electricity
Electrical current in Sweden is 220 V/50 Hz. Round, European style two-pin plugs are used. Appliances designed to operate on
110/120 Volts need a voltage converter and a plug adapter.

A commercial exhibition will be organized in conjunction with the Congress. Please contact

Time Zone
The time zone in Stockholm is GMT +1 hour. Daylight Saving Time is used during the summer.
Tipping
A gratuity is included in the price of hotels and taxis. It is common, however, to leave a tip of around 10 %. When visiting
restaurants, you can show your appreciation for good service by leaving a little extra.
Travel and Visa
Participants are advised to make their own arrangements with respect to entering Sweden. Please note that if you wish to participate
in a tour outside Sweden, you may need a multiple entry visa to Sweden. Individuals requiring an official letter of
invitation in order to obtain a visa and authorisation to attend the Congress should
contact the Congress Organiser

no later than 1 August 2005. The invitation letter will be issued once the registration form and payment has been received by
Congrex.
VAT Refund Conditions
Swedish VAT, currently between 6 % and 25 % may be repaid to foreign enterprises, except banks and insurance companies, or
companies providing health care or education. Information about the refunding of VAT will be available from the
Congress Organiser.
