Aging with Dignity
-new challenges  -new possibilities  -new solutions

Welcome Message from the Chair of the IPA Meetings Committee

Joćo Carlos Barbosa MachadoWhy do colleagues attend and participate in IPA congresses?

IPA Congresses provide State-of-the-Art information in all aspects of the field of Psychogeriatrics – mental health and aging.

IPA Congresses provide a cross-fertilization of experts where new ideas are generated and collaborative research is catalyzed.

IPA’s members and delegates include virtually all of the pioneers, those currently driving the field, and the emerging leaders in the field, under the IPA umbrella. There is wide exposure to those leaders with vast amounts of knowledge and the history of the field, those who are presently molding the field, and those who are the visionaries of tomorrow.

With the rapidly expanding population of older persons worldwide, there is a pressing need for professionals with knowledge and skills, to care for their mental health needs – IPA Congresses are a forum for sharing this knowledge. IPA focuses on a range of mental health issues in the elderly, including those involving psychosis, dementing illnesses, depression and bipolar illness, anxiety disorders, sleep disorders, etc. IPA Congresses, lead to a wide variety of educational experiences, national as well as international, such as focused meetings, expert conferences, special publications, major educational initiatives such as BPSD, activity on local and regional levels and across disciplines, etc.

Join us in Stockholm. Take advantage of this opportunity to be a part of this major event in the field of Psychogeriatrics.
