Professor Martin Orrell, FRCPsych PhD, Professor of Ageing and Mental Health at University College London. At North East London Foundation Trust, Prof Orrell works as an Honorary Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist and is Associate Medical Director, Research and Development. He is also Visiting Professor at City University.

He was Specialist Advisor to the Health Advisory Service and Clinical Advisor to the Audit Commission and a member of the Healthcare Commission Expert Reference Group on Mental Health Services for Older People. He is Chair of the Memory Services National Accreditation Panel (MSNAP).

He leads the SHIELD research programme on psychosocial interventions for dementia care. He has published over 150 academic papers and is Editor of the journal Aging and Mental Health
