Nancy Pachana graduated with a Psychology degree from Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey in 1987 and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1992. She has served in several capacities including Senior Lecturer from 2000-2006 and Deputy Head of School from 2004-2006 at the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. She currently serves as Associate Professor of the School of Psychology in Brisbane, Australia.

In 2006, she was awarded the Inaugural Alastair Heron Prize for research in Dementia from the College of Clinical Psychologists of the Australian Psychological Society and she received the University of Queensland Excellence in Teaching Award in 2005. Additionally, Nancy has been published in more than 70 publications and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Australian Psychologist.

Nancy Pachana has been a member of IPA since 1999 and serves on the Task Force on Residential Care Facilities as well as within the Psychologists Shared Interest Group (SIG). Her research interests include the clinical assessment of cognitive decline in older adults, measurement and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders in later life, functional assessment in later life, interventions with older populations, and general health and well-being in later life.
