Huali Wang, MD, PhD is an associate professor of geriatric psychiatry at the Peking University Institute of Mental Health. She also serves as the Vice Chair for the Clinical Research Division and Associate Director of the Dementia Care & Research Center. In addition, she is the Secretary-General of the Chinese Society for Psychiatry -- Psychogeriatric Interest Group, an affiliate of the International Psychogeriatric Association.

Dr. Wang graduated from the Beijing Medical University in 1994. After a two-year residency in Psychiatry, Dr. Wang enrolled in the MD/PhD program at Peking University (formerly Beijing Medical University) and was awarded an MD/PhD in 2001. In 2002, supported with a National Institute of Health (NIH) Fogarty Fellowship, Dr. Wang was trained on International Mental Health Research at Harvard Medical School. She then pursued postdoctoral training at the University of California, Irvine. She started her career in geriatric psychiatry in 1999 after completing the Arie Course (International Training Certificate Program on Organizational and Clinical Practice of Mental Health of The Old Age) by Prof. Edmond Chiu, Past President of IPA.

Dr. Wang has been conducting studies on Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment since 1998. In 2000, Huali organized the first dementia caregiver support group in China. Since 2005, she has developed a standard case registry and database of individuals with dementia and mild cognitive impairment at Peking University Institute of Mental Health. Dr. Wang leads several research projects on dementia and cognitive impairment and has been closely collaborating with international research teams, including those from Harvard Medical School, University of California-Irvine (UCI) and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

In recent years Dr. Wang served as a committee member of the Aging Psychology Professional Committee affiliated with the Chinese Society for Gerontology, and as Vice Chair & Vice Secretary-General of the Chinese Association of Alzheimer's Disease and Associated Disorders (Alzheimer's Disease Chinese, a member of Alzheimer's Disease International). Dr. Wang has served on the IPA Scientific Committees for the 2009 International Congress and the 2010 International Meeting. She is one of the founding members of the Secretary-General of Chinese Interest Group of Chinese Society for Psychiatry, an IPA affiliate organization.
